DAY 1 SATURDAY – Palermo
Arrival at Palermo. Transfer to hotel in Palermo for welcome cocktail, dinner and overnight in Palermo.
DAY 2 SUNDAY – Cefalu - Catania
Depart for Cefalu a former fishing village, now a charming coastal resort with its imposing Arab Norman Cathedral. Stroll through the ancient narrow street and see the medieval wash-house built in the rock. Time at leisure for lunch on your own. Continue to Catania famous for its original baroque style and black lava stone streets. Dinner and overnight in Catania.
DAY 3 MONDAY – Siracusa - Noto - Catania
Depart for Siracusa, visit the archaeological area incuding the Latomie of the Paradise and the Dyionisos "Ear". Continue to Ortigia, the baroque historical centre of the city to visit the Cathedral and the Arethuse fountain. Time at leisure for lunch on your own. In the afternoon on to Noto (one of the most beautiful cities in Sicily) renowned for its baroque style and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Back to Catania. Dinner and overnight in Catania.
DAY 4 TUESDAY – Mount Etna - Taormina
After breakfast, weather conditions permitting, excursion to Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Across fascinating lanscape we ascend to a height of 1900 metres to visit the Sylvester Craters and enjoy a spectalular view over the Ionian Sea. Lunch in a local restaurant on Mount Etna. Continue to the charming resort of Taormina founded in 400BC a stunning location overlooking Mount Etna. Time at leisure to visit the Greek-Roman theatre or stroll through the little streets with an array of shops and cafes Back to Catania for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5 WEDNESDAY – Piazza Armerina - Agrigento
Depart for Piazza Armerina to visit the world famous mosaics at Villa Romana del Casale which houses the richest, largest and most complext collection of late Roman mosaics in the world and is UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon depart for Agrigento and visit the magnificent Velley Of The Temples - also a UNESCO World Heritate Sites. Guided tour of the valley including the Temples of Concordia, Juno and Heracles. These are the finest example of the Greek civilisation in Sicily. Dinner and overnight in Agrigento.
DAY 6 THURSDAY – Selinunte - Erice - Palermo
Depart for the Archaeological park of Selinunte - the largest in the Mediterranean with its impressive Temples and Acropolis. After the visit stop in at a local farmhouse (famous for olive oil production) for wine and olive oil tastings before having lunch. On to Erice a medieval town sitting high on top of Mt Erice overlooking Trapani and the Egadi Islands. On to Palermo. Dinner and overnight in Palermo.
DAY 7 FRIDAY – Palermo - Monreale - Optional excursion to Mondello/Mt Pellegrino/Capo market
Morning at leisure or optional excursion to Monte Pellegrino, the most famous mountain in Palermo to arrive at the Shrine of Santa Rosalia the Patron Saint of the city. End the morning with a walk to discover one of the most colourful historical markets of Palermo "The Capo Market". Back to the hotel for lunch. Early afternoon departure to Monreale to admire its famous Cathedral with its splendid 12th Century mosaics and cloister of the Benedictines Abbey with its Moorish architecture. Continue with a visit of the city of Palermo including the Cathedral, Palatine Chapel and panoramic tour of the city including the Quattro Canti, Opera House and Pretoria Square. Dinner and overnight in Palermo.
DAY 8 SATURDAY
After breakfast end of tour.
