-> Scuba Diving
in Sicily

Only those who
have already visited Ustica know that scuba diving in this area is
unbelievable and not to be missed. The sea around Ustica is especially clean
and pollution-free. In 1987 it was designated a national marine reserve and
as an underwater archaeological site it provides the ideal habitat for an
abundance of colourful aquatic flora and fauna. With its hidden grottos,
gorges and caves it is a paradise for scuba divers and snorkellers. Some of
the highlights on the scuba diving list are the delicate fan-like red
gorgonias and the rainbow-coloured sponges which can be found at Grotta dei
Gamberi (a depth of approximately 42m) and at Secca di Colombara (a depth of
approximately 40m). At Punta Gavazzi (a depth of 9 and 17m) many
archaeological artefacts can be admired and photographed.
The diving centres we have chosen in
Ustica are professionally run and can
provide qualified instructors at all levels. In addition to offering single
dives it is also possible to arrange a variety of courses from introductory
to advanced levels.
Snorkelling and scuba diving equipment can be hired locally.
