Forest of
Ficuzza

Situated
about fifty kilometres South of Palermo (approximately 1 hours
drive) on the North face of Rocca Busambra is the Ficuzza
Forest. Famous for housing the the royal hunting lodge built
for King Ferdinand III in the early 1800s to a predominantly
English style (influenced by the British officers and
diplomats stationed in Sicily at the time) it is one of the
most extensive parks in Sicily and features a wildlife
hospital and man-made lake fed from the Frattina river.
