Zingaro Nature
Reserve
On the
rugged northwest tip of the island the Zingaro reserve was the
first nature park to be opened in Sicily. It is located
between San Vito Lo Capo and Castellammare del Golfo and
covers an area in excess of 7 kilometres. It is home to over
800 species of plants – many of which are indigenous to the
area, and some of the rarest birds including the Bonelli
eagle. The reserve is very well organised with paths and
precise directions and can only be visited on foot.
